In a recently published Investorideas.com interview, Robert McIntosh, President & C.E.O. of (OTC.BB: AAPH) notes, “Shale plays for oil and gas are the new technology of the industry. Advancements in direction drilling and secondary recovery allow us to drill along these shales-they have oil it's been found and is more of an engineering issue to extract it, like oil sands. So we will have known predictable oil and not have to "wildcat" hoping to discover oil. The Bakken is 200 feet thick and is worth billions to the companies involved. Our Oklahoma shale is new and we are on the cutting edge of drilling leasing and production. And the majors are there-Devon (NYSE: DVN, Chesapeake (NYSE: CHK), Newfield (NYSE: NFX and others now producing gas from the Woodford shale in the south of the State."
Cimarex (NYSE: XEC) recently Reported Third-Quarter 2010 Net Income of $128.2 Million and reported “The year-over-year production increase reflects solid drilling results in western Oklahoma Cana-Woodford shale, Permian Basin and southeast Texas Gulf Coast."

  • Plans 18 to 22 wells in Woodford next year
SAN FRANCISCO Nov 11 (Reuters) - Marathon Oil Corp (MRO.N) plans to greatly expand its drilling program in the Woodford shale next year because it represents a superior investment, its chief executive said on Thursday.
The Woodford shale in Oklahoma delivers high output rates at a more reasonable cost relative to North Dakota's Bakken shale, where Marathon already plans to increase net output over the next three years to 22,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from about 14,000 now, CEO Clarence Cazalot said.
Marathon 's Woodford program from 2008 to 2010 included five company-operated wells and 13 outside-operated wells, but the 2011 program will see three to five company-operated rigs drill 18 to 22 wells, and between 50 and 90 wells drilled by others
